A once in a lifetime sighting.

Hand-built from stoneware clay, this dish is a bar protector before it is a decoration. The base filters water away from underneath so your bar dries instead of sitting in a puddle, and the lid shields it from above. A bar that drains lasts longer, and that is the whole reason the piece exists.

The shape came from the UFO documentaries running in the background while she designed and built it. The handle on the lid is a small alien rider, and his body is left raw, exactly the way the clay came.

Is it really one of one?

Yes. Sierra built this piece once, by hand. When it sells, it will not be made again.

How does the drainage work?

The dish holds your bar above the water line. Water filters down and away through the base, and the lid shields the bar from above. A bar that dries between showers lasts longer.

How do I clean it?

Run it under hot water and massage it with your fingers, then dry it with a towel. That is all it asks.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes. Just rinse off as much soap as you can before it goes in.

How is it packed for shipping?

Double boxed and wrapped in bubble wrap. We try to never use plastic anywhere in our packaging, and this is the one place we have not yet found an alternative that protects a piece like this.

What if it arrives damaged?

Email summon@blackaltar.co a photo and your order number within 30 days and we will send you a return label and make it right. Ship the piece back to us so we can give it a proper burial, or attempt kintsugi and keep it for ourselves.

Does Sierra take commissions?

Yes, with a minimum of four weeks of lead time. Email summon@blackaltar.co with what you are imagining.
